the greatest euro synthi-disco album &#65279,,,,,of early 80s finally reprint by mondo groove records. original released in 1982, computer disco is the most kraftwerk-ian italian production. marcello giombini was a pioneer of early sequencers and in this cult lp produced cheesey cosmic synth pop a little bit italo disco oriented. every fan of 70/80s synthesizer music and electronic djs should put in his collection if they not already possess the extremely rare original edition. original artwork restored. limited edition.

repress ! via app and bank team up for her second ep, secret rotation. prepare for angular tones and her characteristic manic drum patterns. her style can be disruptive at times, and her approach to production intends to test listeners and djs alike.

undo (gabriel berlanga) introduces his third album disconnect, with ten songs written, recorded and produced during 2015 and 2016. on disconnect undo blends different influences using both new and old analogue gear combined with digital plug-ins and fx to create his own recognizable sound after more than 10 years on the road. opening track “disconnect” finds undo playing with psychedelic synths and singing shyly. we also hear vocals but in a very diferent mood onthe funny, funky and sexy “computer friends” and on “autómatas”, an electro cut that demands a reaction against the established injustice. there are vocals as well on the last track of the album, this time with an epic vocoder because at the end “we’ve got to fight”. djs will likely gravitate toward the unstoppable trance synth of “the arptist”, the chug-techno tension on “acid prophet”, the shuffled beats and endless harmony of “setembre” and the dreamy melodies of “interferencias” and “sunmachine”.

nancy azzurro comes out of nowhere. well, that’s not entirely true—lovefingers met her about 10 years ago on the beach near her home on the island of sardinia—but in terms of our musical orbit, she is a very private artist, creating only the purest music, straight from the heart. these three gorgeous songs were produced during her young adulthood and would become secret weapons for a handful of djs she’d meet over the following years. still standing the test of time today, they’re now finally seeing a proper release. side-a’s grace invites us into nancy’s world where disco and house collide—the live drums, percussion and bassline hold down a blanket of synth strings and wah-wahs. halfway through this epic enters a piano hook of the highest order, an emotional rush that brings together everything we love on the dancefloor, guaranteed to induce goosebumps. on side-b, she rounds out the release with the dreamlike, percussive and yugo-tinged illustrations & the large, and closes with the title track teen bee, a loopy cowbell-driven dive into the deep, filled with luscious sweeping chords and meandering keys. the esp institute is honoured to close out 2016 (one seriously heavy year) with such a beautiful and cohesive release. thank you and goodnight.

monsieur blue is already getting some keen internet heads casting their theories about the identity of this debutant producer, but while they fret over such issues the rest of us will be getting down to this impeccable selection of deep grooving wares. this is razor sharp club music surely crafted by someone with experience, as the muscular thrust of track 1 suggests. there s a rugged charm in amongst the minimal disposition of the beats, which stands in contrast with the aqueous delights of track 2 or the housey funk of track 3. it s high grade dance music for djs and party people, plain and simple.

having done such wonderful work alongside wolf muller on the sound of glades album, cass makes a welcome return with an expansive album release on emotional response. the german producer s ambient tendencies blossom here, occasionally meeting with laconic drums as on u but primarily dealing in huge swathes of melody. djs will want to hold out for the dramatic pulse of ann, where a more pronounced drum set makes for one of the album s most club-ready moments. theres a strong variety of tones and moods across youth sessions, from the strafing arpeggios of running to the bliss-out shapeless swirl of prismatic prolog, and this ensures that the album will not dull with repeated listens.
